"Perfume"

I create spontaneously, impulsively, I follow a hunch, an inner voice. I don't look for an explanation or a reason for my creativity, I give in to the need to materialise the images that appear in my head. My favourite medium is optical glass – it has beautiful depth and internal structure.

I experiment, combining different techniques, glassmaking and painting – this is how the paintings in the series "Canvas, paints, glass" arose.

I began the realisation of the works for the exhibition "Perfume" when it was a grey, dark winter outside the window. I was waiting for those first warm rays of winter sunshine, to which you expose your face to feel their warmth. They warm up the dried grasses, making them smell.

The glow pushing through the dark grey clouds evoked images of clashing colours, contrasts fuelled by elements made of glass, winter beiges, grey skies, the almost burning rays of the setting sun. I was happy to apply these colours to the canvases.

The basis for considering the fragrance in spatial form was the flacon. A glass bottle with a stopper, storing fragrant sensations, associated with pleasant sensuality.

The time of spring has added an indispensable element – flowers. The quintessential fragrance, a flacon with a stopper in the form of a flower, the spring scent of a flowery meadow. Spaces filled with warmth and colour.

As I drove home, I opened the car windows, looking at the intense yellow fields of rapeseed stretching to the horizon, flowering bushes and trees and their intoxicating fragrance filled the space.
